Chuubu (lit. Central) Airport is an international airport located on an artificial island in Ise Bay, Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture, 35 km south of Nagoya in central Japan. It is a major airport of Japan, as well as the main airport of the Chuubu region (central part of Honshuu island). The airport was opened in 2005, replacing Nagoya airport.
The airport has one terminal, serving domestic and international flights on separate ends. You can go from the airport to the mainland through train, bus, car or a ferry. Most flights through Centrair leave to various destinations in East and Southeast Asia, but Finnair operates flights to Helsinki, Lufthansa to Frankfurt, and Delta Airlines to Detroit and Honolulu.

A particularly curious feature of the airport is a spectacular sky deck measuring 1,000 feet and this offers visitors amazing views of the Port of Nagoya that offers, among other things, the possibility of visiting a traditional Japanese bathhouse, where you can await your flight sitting in warm water.
Of course, that’s not all it has to offer – as with every proper airport, Centrair has a shopping center, or rather, a shopping city – as the whole area is arranged to resemble traditional Japanese streets and named Chochin-yokocho (traditional street) and Renga-dori (modern street).
